Playlist pitch template for Spotify: copy, adapt, and send
Ready-to-send pitch template for Spotify playlist curators: subject, intro, tech data, fit, links, and closer.
What this template is for
This template covers the six elements a serious Spotify playlist curator needs to see before deciding to read the rest. It works for editorial directories like Playlist Atlas and for independent curators. It does NOT work for the editorial pitch inside Spotify for Artists — for that, read Spotify for Artists: pitch editorial playlists.
Copyable template
**Subject:** Pitch for [Playlist name] — [Artist name] · [Song title]
**Email body:**
Hi [directory / curator name] team,
I'm [Artist name] from [City / Country]. I just released / will release on [date] the track "[Title]". It's [precise genre] at [BPM] BPM, with a [adjectives: warm, dark, melodic, high-energy...] tone and stylistic references to [2-3 known artists or tracks].
I'd like it considered for [Playlist name] in the directory. It fits that list because [concrete reason: shares BPM with X tracks already in, same listening moment, language, main instrumentation, etc.]. I don't expect guaranteed inclusion — I appreciate the review.

What makes this template strong
Three things. First: a single target list, not "any that fits". Second: concrete fit reason in one sentence. Third: zero promises. Phrases like "I'll push promo hard", "I have X followers", or "this will explode" add no value — the curator weighs editorial fit, not the artist's marketing muscle.
What to avoid
1) Heavy attachments (mp3, full press pdf). Links win. 2) Templates that feel like templates — personalise the fit line every time. 3) Generic email like "hi, here's my new song" without a target playlist name. 4) Swap promises. 5) Sending the same email to 200 lists — curators talk and it shows.
How to use it for Playlist Atlas
For Playlist Atlas you don't need to write the full email: the editorial review form has structured fields and the fit reason goes in the notes field. But the principles are the same — one playlist, one reason, no promises.
After the pitch
If you get a positive reply, thank them without pressure. If you don't get a reply in 4 weeks, don't re-send: the curator read it. To increase odds for the next release, read common mistakes when submitting music to playlists and adjust what's missing.
